MedSun: FDA's Medical Product Safety Network

MedSun: Shining a Light on Medical Product Safety
The Medical Product Safety Network (MedSun) is an adverse event reporting program launched in 2002 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH). The primary goal for MedSun is to work collaboratively with the clinical community to identify, understand, and solve problems with the use of medical devices.

The MedSun Web page provides easy public access to de-identified reports sent into the MedSun program in addition to important safety information to MedSun participants and to the national clinical community about reported problems. MedSun ensures that new safety information is rapidly communicated to the medical community thereby promoting patient safety.

Google Flu Trends

How does Google Flu Trends work?
Google believes that certain search terms are good indicators of flu activity. Google Flu Trends uses aggregated Google search data to estimate flu activity by state.
Each week, millions of users around the world search for online health information. As you might expect, there are more flu-related searches during flu season, more allergy-related searches during allergy season, and more sunburn-related searches during the summer. You can explore all of these phenomena using Google Trends.
Can search query trends provide an accurate, reliable model of real-world phenomena?
