Why did the Library cancel images.MD?
The Library is facing another budget reduction of $100,000 for fiscal year 2008. Read our June 2007 newsletter article for more information.
What should I use instead of images.MD?
- MD Consult brings together many medical resources in one integrated service to help searchers find answers efficiently. Included are over 50,000 high-quality images from the medical books in MD Consult. Images include photos, tables, graphs, and more. You may print or download images for your own personal, non-commercial use provided that all copyright and other proprietary notices are kept intact. To use images in a poster, publication, or for any other similar use, permission must be requested through the Elsevier Rights Department.

- Google provides a search engine for locating images on the Internet. Using the Advanced Image Search page, you can refine your search with options for size ranges, coloration, file types, and more.

- Medical Images Subject Guide, compiled by the Medical Center Library, provides links to medical image Websites organized into the following categories: Anatomy & Physiology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Embryology, Gastroenterology, Hematology, Histology, History of Medicine, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Pathology, Public Health, and Radiology. Also included is information on copyright, using search engines to find images, and how to add images to your Powerpoint presentations.

- DSpace@DukeMed (Duke Medicine Digital Repository) is an image database that allows you to search or browse the Duke University Medical Center Archives or the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) collections.
