Haas Scholarship

History of Medicine Scholarship

Purpose: To support a 3rd year medical student engaged in research in the Medical Humanities Study Program.

Eligible: All rising 3rd year medical students who are entering the Medical Humanities study track and who will be doing research with a mentor who has been approved for the Medical Humanities.

Requirements: The Haas Scholar is expected to spend 10-12 months engaged in research and to attend any History of Medicine Collections events, as well as the regular lecture series offered through the Trent Center for Bioethics, Humanities, and History of Medicine and any other special lectures on history of medicine held at Duke. The Scholar is also expected to complete all the requirements established for Duke's third year of medical school.

Deadline: April 1, 2011

Jury: Haas Endowment Committee. Interviews will be scheduled with eligible applicants.

Award: $3000. Deposited in the Financial Aid Office towards tuition costs.
