Note Cards
Images from the Trent Collection are available for sale as note cards with envelopes, either individually ($2.00 + tax) or as packages of six assorted cards ($10.00 + tax). The blank cards, which are seen throughout this issue, were designed by Duke Medical Center Creative Services and Publications using photographs by Bill Bamberger. Appropriate for a variety of occasions, they include an ivory anatomical manikin, apothecary jars, an inro medicine box, sarsaparilla from Hamilton's Flora Homoeophathica, a home medicine chest, and a Chinese doctor's lady.
A note card is also available featuring The Four Seasons engravings. Designed by Molly Renda with photographs by Bill Bamberger, they are priced the same as those above. All cards can be purchased in Room 103 on the lower level of the Medical Center Library.

Coming Events
Dr. Blaine S. Nashold, emeritus professor of neurosurgery, is in the process of creating a permanent exhibit on the History of Stereotactic Neurosurgery which will be located on the second stack level of the Medical Library. Three cases have been constructed to hold instruments from his personal collection and a timeline of significant names and advances has been designed by Robert Devoe of Educational Media Services. Everything should be in place by late summer. Look for more details in the next newsletter.
An oil portrait of Hans Horst Meyer, 1853-1939, a pharmacologist and anesthesia pioneer who taught and conducted research in both Germany and Austria, has been given to the History of Medicine Collections by his grandson, J. Horst Meyer, D.Sc., Fritz London Professor of Physics. The painting has recently returned from the North Carolina Museum of Art following months of restoration which was funded by Professor Horst Meyer. We plan to hold an event in the Fall to celebrate this gift along with those of H.H. Meyer's books, papers, photographs, and memorabilia.
