Ovid Account

Duke faculty, graduate students, and DUMC staff and students may apply for a personal Ovid account. To register, you will need to fill out an application and show your Duke identification card. Accounts are usually created on the next business day. Contact the Library Service Desk at (919) 660-1100 for registration information and help with forgotten passwords. My NCBI Account

Anyone may set up a personal My NCBI account for use in searching PubMed. If you forget your password, you may reset it by following the appropriate links to My NCBI in the upper righthand corner of the PubMed homepage. The Library does not maintain a copy of usernames or passwords.

  • Save PubMed searches
  • Set up email alerts for new content (from a subject search or journal table of contents)
  • Select filters, such as those for specific age groups or publication types, to group search results

Remote Access

Access to Library resources is restricted to the Duke network. The Library does not maintain generic passwords for off-campus access. To connect from home, you will need to set up the Duke University VPN client, both maintained by the Office of Information Technology (OIT). Note: Some Duke University Medical Center patrons may also set up the Duke University Health System VPN client, which is maintained by Duke Health Technology Solutions (DHTS) and requires the permission of the patron's IT Manager or LAN Administrator.
