This Website contains two related classifications of diseases with similar titles.
- The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) is the classification used to code and classify mortality data from death certificates.
- The International Classification of Diseases, Clinical Modification ICD-9-CM is used to code and classify morbidity data from the inpatient and outpatient records, physician offices, and most National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) surveys. Codes describe procedures, services, and supplies.
- A synopsis and pre-release version of the ICD-10-CM is also available.
- A searchable version of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), used to code and classify body functions and structure, activities related to tasks and actions, and related environmental factors is available from the WHO Collaborating Centre Website.
