There are a number of useful ways to limit your retrieval in CINAHL. From the main search screen you may apply the following limits to your search:

Publication Year
You may limit to a single publication year or range of years by choosing values from the drop-down menus.

English
CINAHL indexes some journals written in languages other than English. You may limit to materials written in English if you choose.

Research
This limits your results to articles that have “research” as the publication type, which means they are reports of actual research studies. These may be research studies of any variety, from qualitative studies to randomized controlled trials. Research studies generally include discussion of the data collection procedures, methodology, results, and so on. (For material on how to conduct research, use CINAHL subject headings under the broad heading RESEARCH, such as CLINICAL NURSING RESEARCH or RESEARCH, PHYSICAL THERAPY, etc.) Note: Limiting to publication type “research” will pick up individual studies as well as systematic reviews.
