Additional useful limits are available by clicking on the "More Limits" icon.
You may choose more than one item from a drop-down menu by holding down the CTRL key as you select values.
Age Groups
This limiting feature is the best way to restrict a search to a population defined by age, such as
children, adults, and older persons. You may limit to a very specific age group (for example,
newborn infant) or several age groups (such as newborn infant, infant, or preschool child).
Publication Types
Publication types (also called document types) are special indexing terms that describe the
type of material being indexed rather than its subject content, or that indicate the
presence of a specific type of material in the larger document. CINAHL allows limiting by more
than thirty publication types, including classifications such as “Book,” “Book Chapter,” “Care Plan,” “Clinical Trial,”
“Consumer Patient Teaching Materials,” “Practice Guidelines,” “Protocol,” “Research,” “Research
Instrument,” “Review,” “Systematic Review,” and others.
Journal Subsets
CINAHL allows limiting to broad journal categories such as "Allied Health Journals," “Consumer Health
Journals,” “Nursing Journals,” "Core Nursing Journals," “Peer Reviewed Journals,” and others. This
can be a useful way to identify materials of particular interest to specific categories of users.
