2010 EBM Course for MS3 and MS4

Evidence-Based Medicine is a one-credit elective course offered to 3rd year Medical Students. It is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn about the practice of evidence based medicine (EBM), including formulating focused questions, acquiring relevant studies, appraising the quality of the study and applying the results to patient care. Students will meet with faculty members during the six sessions, in which the basics of EBM will be discussed within a case-based curriculum.

Student performance will be assessed by attendance at the course sessions and participation in discussions. Students who satisfactorily participate in the six sessions will be eligible for a grade of Pass. Attendance Policy

EBM COURSE ATTENDANCE POLICY:

The EBM course is offered for one clinical credit. We have a limited amount of time for our course and need your participation! Therefore, students must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for the credit:

  • Students may miss no more than one class session.
  • Any student who misses two or more class sessions will not be eligible to pass the course.
  • Class sessions start promptly at 5 p.m. and go until 7 p.m. To receive credit for a class session, students are expected to be present on time and to participate in the entire discussion until the session has concluded.
  • To receive credit for a missed session, students must satisfactorily complete the make-up assignment within one week of the missed session (e.g., it will be due no later than 5 p.m. on the following Thursday).
