2012 EBM Course

The EBM course is open to MS3s and MS4s at Duke University School of Medicine who have completed their required clinical clerkships. It is offered for one clinical credit. It is designed to be an interactive, engaging and clinically relevant seminar for students who are interested in learning how to use the evidence cycle in routine clinical activities.

Student performance will be assessed by attendance at the course sessions and participation in discussions. Students who satisfactorily participate in the six sessions will be eligible for a grade of Pass. Grading and Attendance Policy

Grading and Attendance Policy:

The EBM Course is graded on a Pass/Fail basis. Eligibility for a Passing grade is accomplished by:
Attending and participating in a minimum of five class sessions with make-up of any missed session*

  • No student who misses more than one class session will be eligible to pass
  • A student who arrives more than 15 minutes late will not earn credit for the session
  • A student who uses his or her laptop during the class, which is designed to be interactive,will not earn credit for the session unless the session was explicitly designed to demonstrate real-time searching strategies

*Make-up assignments will be distributed via email the following day to students who missed a session and will be due back to Connie Schardt via email the following Monnday. Assignments will be assessed for completeness and attention to the task, and answer keys will be distributed for self-assessment.
